Noise Meetup Workshops 2025
Noise Meetup is a regular meeting place for the noise community in Linz - with workshops, sound performances and jams. The aim of the Noise Meetup is to get to know, present and exchange ideas among noise enthusiasts with varying degrees of prior knowledge. Workshops, jams, sound performances: The workshops are about sound production and artistic strategies. The jams are about experimenting, practising and presenting. Overall, the focus is on direct and joint construction, creation, knowledge exchange, reflection, feedback and presentation.
In 2025 the Noise Meetups workshops will also take place in STWST’s servus.at Clubraum.
Upcoming Workshops
Wir bieten eine Reihe von zwei Workshops von Sara Mlakar & Mascha Illich an, die Synthesizer-Löten und analoges Interface-Design kombinieren.

Coppernica Synth-Löten
by Sara Mlakar & Mascha Illich
We are going to make a copy of Coppernica Synth by Constanza Piña(Corazon de Robota, Berlin), which is able to create up to 12 different frequencies, each one doubling the previous one. The frequencies are played by touching the output wires. By combining the frequencies, more complex patterns can be created. After successful soldering and troubleshooting on 10.5, we will continue by playing with various materials to build an odd interface for the Coppernica Synth on 24.5.

Odd Interface Design
by Sara Mlakar & Mascha Illich
We will use different conductive materials such as textiles, paint and tape, various fruits, veggies or plants, (parts of) metal objects or wires, and even our own bodies to create interesting interactions to play the Coppernica. The final interface can be a sculpture, an installation, a painting, a performance, or anything else you can imagine.
No technical knowledge is required.
Workshops can be visited separately.
If you want to join the interface workshop, but cannot attend the soldering workshop, we can provide a pre-soldered Coppernica for you. You are welcome to bring any conductive materials or objects you wish to turn into interfaces!
Material cost: 30EUR for Coppernica kit.

Sara Mlakar is a PhD candidate combining interaction design, art, and Human-Computer-Interaction research under the umbrella of Odd Interactions. In the past, she has been strongly involved in the field of smart textile interfaces, which remains a big part of her work to this day. Additionally, she is (co-)organizing many workshops on various topics that focus on co-creating technology with everyday users.
Mascha Illich works within the media of sculpture and sound. She is a member of Noise Meetup Linz, an initiative organising experimental sound workshops.

Hidden Sound Explorer by Boris Shershenkov
Dear community, we are happy to invite you to our next workshop!
The Field Processing Unit is the modular extended listening system for
hidden sound exploration.
During the workshop, we will build a headphone amplifier and three sets of
active microphones, allowing us to hear the vibrations in various
materials, electromagnetic waves, and visible light modulations:
1. Contact microphone
2. Electromagnetic transducer
3. Phonoptic transducer
Sounds captured by the Unit can be used as control signals for analog and
digital systems or recorded with a smartphone or audio recorder to create
musical compositions, performances, and sound installations.
No previous soldering experience is required.
Material fee: 30 EUR.
Please register: noiselab.linz@gmail.com
If the participants are interested, we can offer a follow-up sound walk,
where you can test your devices and bring them into action.
Cheers,
NoisemeetUp.
