1986 Human Loop

In the spring of 1986 I built a communication loop between two people in a gallery in Vienna

The Setup:

Two humans sitting side by side. A wall was built between them so that they could not see themselves. The brain currents were measured and converted into an image. The pictures were shown on a monitor to the communication partner The communication loop starts from the moment when both persons looked at their monitor.

An exhibition at Kunsthalle Exnergasse, 1991??

A phone number was provided where visitors could send a fax. The fax was received by an algorithm, randomly overpainted, and then sent back to the sender.

The event falls within the realm of generative art due to the applied algorithm. The code was implemented on an Atari computer using GFA Basic.
