1996 Radio Telescope

1996 I started a long-term project that goes to the present. A narrow-band reception system was built for this purpose by Jeffrey Lichtmann. It operates in the 21 cm range and is suitable for receiving the hydrogen characteristic at 1421 Mhz. In the summer of 1996, a static reflector of 30 meters in diameter was built in the sculpture park Katzow (invitation by Thomas Radelhoff). The first construction of the 3 meter parabolic reflector made of aluminum took place during th…

SPACE

The Appropriation of Space

For me, space plays a central art-political role. It represents liberation from the two-dimensional representation that dominated artistic understanding for a long time. While abstraction in painting marked significant progress, the appropriation of space opened up entirely new artistic possibilities.

Two black and white Cam-Monitors were mounted on a helmet. Over an genlock from an amiga the real stereo image, that was recorded with two cameras, were played on these monitors. About the genlock was the computergrafik could be mixed with the real image. The aim of this experiment should be a large space, which is a graphical rubik cubic. Conversely, the observer stands in a rubik cubic on the outside image of the environment, should be projected on all 6 faces of the …
